When Everything’s Gone Green or Joy Division dictate the pace of the heart on a summer night between what has passed and inevitability, the one who sat in class in front with a profile to catch if you could make her turn even if it took being an asshole, that was the way this moment passes as the music dictates and you walk to her window in the middle of the night in July before the new school year takes hold while she probably sleeps and you hold your breath just before tapping and calling her name.

When her father answers through the blinds and you think, “Shit! Wrong window!” You run fast, able to still remain a child for a few months more.
